Kings & Queens of England Part 1 of 9: William The Conqueror.
****** This presentation is part of a school project carried out by French students ******
My name is William the conqueror, I was born in Falaise in 1027 and I died in Rouen on September 9th, 1087.
My story begins after the death of my father, Robert le Magnifique, when I was named Duke of Normandy at the age of eight.
In 1050, I married Matilda of Flanders (also named Queen Matilda), who created the famous tapestry of Bayeux, representing all my conquests.
After Harold Godwinsons treason, I decided to strike back and invade England.
I won the battle of Hastings and I became King of England in 1066.
I had a castle in Normandy where I liked to hunt and have a rest.
William II, a k a William Rufus, one of my ten children, was my successor on the throne of England
while Robert Curthose, another son of mine, became Duke of Normandy.
We could say, without a doubt, that I was the best king among the kings since I civilized England.
God save William the Conqueror!
